In military flying, the wingman flies to the right and slightly behind the lead aircraft, protecting and watching lead’s back. Chip was my wingman and best friend for over 13 years. We began our adventure when he was just 5 weeks old and days away from his death row sentence at a Kingsville, TX animal shelter. He was with me through many of my highest highs and lowest lows. He faithfully waited for me over 3 deployments and countless temporary duty assignments. Always loyal and faithful. He survived a dog napping and was successfully recovered after 2 weeks with his captor. He lived in 4 different states and hiked trails in several others. He was my constant companion and he will be missed more than he knows. I’m gutted, but I’m so thankful for all of the wonderful memories I had with him. Rest easy my puppy. A toast!
